Hadith 1815
١٨١٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش (عن سعد) (١) بن عبيدة عن أبي عبد الرحمن عن علي قال: إذا قام أحدكم من الليل؛ فليستك، فإن الرجل إذا قام من الليل، فتسوك، ثم توضأ، ثم قام إلى الصلاة، جاءه الملك حتى يقوم خلفه يستمع القرآن، فلا يزال يدنو منه حتى يضع فاه (على) (٢) فيه، فلا يقرأ آية إلا دخلت جوفه (٣).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when any of you gets up at night, he should use the miswak. Because when a person gets up at night, uses the miswak, then performs ablution, and then stands for prayer, an angel stands behind him and listens to his recitation of the Qur'an. Then the angel gradually comes so close to him that he places his mouth upon his mouth. Thus, whenever he recites a verse, that verse enters into the angel's belly.
