It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman came to the service of the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of a husband over his wife?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The right of the husband is that the wife should not refuse herself to him even if she is sitting at the millstone." The woman then asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of a husband over his wife?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "She should not give anything from his house in charity without his permission. If she does so, the husband will get the reward and the wife will bear the sin." The woman again asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of a husband over his wife?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "A woman should not leave the house without her husband's permission. If she does so, Allah's angels, the angels of mercy, and the angels of wrath curse her until she repents or returns." The woman asked, "Even if her husband is oppressive?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes, even if he is oppressive." Then the woman said, "By the One Who has sent you with the truth, after today I will not give anyone authority over my matter," meaning she would not marry.
