Hadith 16765
١٦٧٦٥ - حدثنا عيسى بن يونس عن سليمان التيمي عن أبي جعفر الأشجعي أن امرأة أتت شريحا معها أمها وعمها، فأرادت الأم رجلًا وأراد العم رجلًا، فخيرها شريح، فاختارت (الذي اختارت) (١) أمها فقال شريح للعم: تأذن؟ قال: لا واللَّه، لا آذن قال: أتأذن قبل أن لا يكون لك إذن؟ قال: لا واللَّه، لا آذن، قال شريح: اذهبي، (فانكحي) (٢) ابنتك من شئت.
Hazrat Abu Ja'far Ashja'i says that a woman came to Hazrat Shurayh with her mother and her uncle. Her mother wanted to marry her to one man, and her uncle wanted to marry her to another man. Hazrat Shurayh gave the woman the choice, and the woman chose her mother's preference. Hazrat Shurayh asked her uncle, "Do you give permission?" He said, "By Allah! I will never give permission." Hazrat Shurayh said, "Do you give permission before your permission is no longer required?" Her uncle said, "By Allah! I will never give permission." Hazrat Shurayh said to the woman's mother, "Take your daughter and marry her to whomever you wish."
