Hadith 16652
١٦٦٥٢ - [حدثنا] (١) أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن علقمة قال: كنت أمشي مع عبد اللَّه بمنى، فلقيه عثمان فقام معه يحدثه فقال (له) (٢) عثمان: يا أبا عبد الرحمن! أَلا أزوجك جارية (شابة) (٣) لعلها تذكرك بعض ما مضى من زمانك؟ فقال عبد اللَّه: أما لئن قلت ذلك لقد قال لنا رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "يا معشر الشباب! من ⦗١٥٦⦘ استطاع منكم (الباءة) (٤) فليتزوج، فإنه (أغض) (٥) للبصر، ومن لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم فإنه له (وجاء) (٦) " (٧).
Hazrat Alqamah narrates that I was walking in Mina with Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). During this time, they met the Commander of the Faithful, Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and stood talking with him. Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! Should I not arrange your marriage with a young girl? Perhaps she may remind you of your youth." Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "You have also said this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O young people! Whoever among you has the means to marry should do so, for marriage lowers the gaze and protects the private parts. Whoever does not have the means should fast regularly, for fasting will be a shield against sins.'"
