Hadith 14872
١٤٨٧٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع بن الجراح عن الأعمش عن مسلم البطين عن علي بن حسين عن مروان بن الحكم قال: كنا نسير مع عثمان، فسمع رجلًا يلبي بهما جميعًا، فقال عثمان: من هذا؟ فقالوا: علي قال: فأتاه عثمان فقال: ألم تعلم أني نهيت عن هذا، (فقال) (١): بلى، ولكن (لم أكن لأدع) (٢) فعل رسول اللَّه ﷺ (بقولك) (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Marwan bin Hakam narrates that we were going with Hazrat Uthman when he heard the voice of a person reciting the Talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah. Hazrat Uthman asked, "Who is this?" People replied, "It is Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)." Hazrat Uthman came to him and said, "Are you not aware that I have prohibited this?" He replied, "Why not (I am aware), but I cannot abandon the action of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) because of your statement."
