Hadith 13464
١٣٤٦٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا حفص عن أشعث وعبد الملك عن عطاء قال: من اعتمر في أشهر الحج] (١) ثم رجع إلى بلده ثم حج من (عامة) (٢) فليس بمتمتع، إنما المتمتع من أقام ولم يرجع.
Hazrat Ata says that a person who performs Umrah during the months of Hajj, then returns to his city and then again performs Hajj in the same year, will not be counted as one who performs Hajj Tamattu. Rather, the person who, after performing Umrah, stays there and does not return until Hajj, is the one who performs Hajj Tamattu.
