الرجل يكلف بغير الله أو بأبيهIf someone swears by other than Allah or by his father
Hadith 12662
١٢٦٦٢ - حدثنا ابن علية عن إسماعيل بن أمية عن نافع عن ابن عمر قال: أدرك النبي ﷺ عمر في بعض أسفاره، وهو يقول: وأبي، وأبي فقال: كان اللَّه ينهاكم أن تحلفوا بآبائكم، من حلف فليحلف باللَّه أو ليسكت" (١).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that during a journey, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found Hazrat Umar swearing by his father. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has forbidden you from swearing by your forefathers. Whoever has to swear, should swear by Allah or remain silent.
