Hadith 12491
١٢٤٩١ - حدثنا محمد بن (بشر) (١) حدثنا (عبيد اللَّه) (٢) بن (عمر عن) (٣) نافع عن (عبد اللَّه أن) (٤) حفصة بكت على عمر فقال (لها) (٥): مهلا يا بنية ألم تعلمي أن النبي ﷺ قال: "إن الميت ليعذب ببكاء أهله عليه" (٦).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Hazrat Umar was wounded, Hazrat Hafsa began to weep, so Hazrat Umar said: O daughter! Stop weeping. Do you not know that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, the deceased is punished because of the weeping of his family over him.
