Hadith 11984
١١٩٨٤ - حدثنا ابن مهدي عن سفيان عن عبد الرحمن بن القاسم عن أبيه قال: اجتمع أصحاب النبي ﷺ حين مات النبي ﷺ، فكان الرجل يلحد (والآخر) (١) يشق، فقالوا: اللهم (خير) (٢) له، فطلع الذي كان يلحد فلحد له (٣).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Qasim narrates from his father that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, all the companions gathered together. There was one person who made graves with a niche (lahd) and another who made graves with a trench (shaqq). The companions prayed, "O Allah! Choose one of them (for us)." So the person who used to dig graves with a niche (lahd) came and dug a niche grave for the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
