Hadith 11865
١١٨٦٥ - حدثنا (عائذ) (١) بن حبيب عن يحيى بن سعيد عن واقد بن عمرو بن (سعد) (٢) بن معاذ قال: كنت في جنازة فلم أجلس حتى وضعت [(على) (٣) الأرض، ثم أتيت نافع بن جبير فجلست إليه فقال: ما لي لم أرك جلست حتى وضعت الجنازة؟ فقلت: ذلك الحديث الذي بلغني] (٤) عن أبي سعيد، فقال نافع: حدثني مسعود بن الحكم أن عليا حدثه أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ قام ثم قعد (٥).
Hazrat Waqid bin Amr bin Sa'd bin Mu'adh narrates that I was at a funeral, and I did not sit down until the bier was placed down. Then I came to Hazrat Nafi' bin Jubair and sat with him. He asked me, "What is the reason that you did not sit until the bier was placed down?" I replied, "Because a hadith has reached me that Hazrat Ali (may Allah honor his face) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained standing (and then when the bier was placed down) he sat."
