Hazrat Abu Rabi’ah narrates that I heard Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah Almighty afflicts a Muslim’s body with pain (and trial), He commands the angel to write for him the good deeds which he used to do in a state of health. Then, if Allah grants him recovery, He purifies him from sins, and if Allah takes his soul, He deals with him with mercy and forgiveness, and if his soul is taken, Allah forgives his sins and has mercy on him.
