Hadith 10423
١٠٤٢٣ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن ابن (أبي) (١) خالد عن (شبيل) (٢) ⦗٢٤١⦘ ابن عوف قال: و (٣) كان أدرك الجاهلية قال: أمر عمر بن الخطاب الناس بالصدقة فقال الناس: يا (أمير) (٤) المؤمنين خيل لنا ورقيق أفرض علينا عشرة (عشرة) (٥) (قال) (٦): أما أنا فلا أفرض (ذلك) (٧) عليكم (٨).
Hazrat Shabeel bin Auf, who had witnessed the era of ignorance, narrates: Hazrat Umar ordered the people to pay Zakat. So the people said, "O Commander of the Faithful, we also have horses and slaves; please make ten (units) obligatory on each for us." He replied, "I cannot make it obligatory upon you."
