Hadith 10028
١٠٠٢٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: ثنا سفيان عن الزهري عن أبي عبيد مولى (ابن) (١) أزهر قال: شهدت العيد مع عمر بن الخطاب فبدأ بالصلاة قبل الخطبة وقال: إن النبي ﷺ نهى عن صوم هذين اليومين: "أما يوم الفطر فيوم فطركم من صيامكم، وأما يوم الأضحى فكلوا (فيه) (٢) من لحم نسككم" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Ubaid, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, narrates that I offered the Eid prayer with Hazrat Umar bin Khattab. He delivered the sermon before the prayer and said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on these two days. The day of Eid al-Fitr is the day of your breaking the fast, and on the day of Eid al-Adha, eat from your sacrifices.
