Hadith 365

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Amir al-Mu'minin Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came to his place after sunset during the (battle of) Khandaq and began to speak ill of the disbelievers of Quraysh. He said, "O Messenger of Allah! I could not perform the Asr prayer until the sun had set." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "By Allah, I too have not performed the Asr prayer (until now)." Then we turned towards (the place) Bathan, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution for the prayer, and all of us also performed ablution for the prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed the Asr prayer after the sun had set, and after that he performed the Maghrib prayer.
