Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(تَجَنَّبُوا حِرْصَ الدُّنْيَا وَشَهَوَاتِهَا)(Avoid the greed and desires of the world)
Hadith 5277

عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «هَذَا ابْنُ آدَمَ وَهَذَا أَجَلُهُ» وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عِنْدَ قَفَاهُ ثُمَّ بَسَطَ فَقَالَ: «وَثَمَّ أمله» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ
It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is man and this is his death." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand at the back of his neck, then opened it and said: "And there are his desires." Its chain is authentic; narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
