Brief Explanation
1؎: If semen (mani) gets on clothing, there are three ways to remove it: scraping, rubbing, and washing. Whichever method effectively removes it may be used. In some narrations, it is mentioned that if the semen is wet, it should be washed, and if it is dry, it should be scraped or rubbed. If a trace remains after scraping, rubbing, or washing, there is no harm. Imam Tirmidhi has narrated from Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma that the matter of semen is like pus or saliva; scraping or rubbing it is sufficient, and this is also evidence of its purity.
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
This ruling applies in the case when the semen (madhiy) is so thick that, upon drying, it can be removed by rubbing. If it is thin, then it permeates the fabric and leaves a stain. In that case, it is not cleaned by rubbing. In such a situation, it is appropriate that the affected part of the garment be washed so that cleanliness is achieved.
