´It was narrated that Asma’ bint Yazid said:` “Some food was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) and it was offered to us. We said: ‘We do not have any appetite for it.’ He said: ‘Do not combine hunger and lies.’”

Benefits and Issues:

Offering food to those present while eating is a good habit.

When food is offered, one should not hesitate to accept it if hungry.

If not hungry, there is no harm in not accepting such an offer. One should express gratitude; however, it is better to take a bite or two.

Lying is not good even in situations of formality. One should adopt some other appropriate manner for excusing oneself.
