بَابُ : طَلاَقِ الْمُكْرَهِ وَالنَّاسِيChapter: Divorce of one who is compelled, and of one who is forgetful
Hadith 2045

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَضَعَ عَنْ أُمَّتِي الْخَطَأَ ، وَالنِّسْيَانَ ، وَمَا اسْتُكْرِهُوا عَلَيْهِ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said :` "Allah has forgiven my nation for mistakes and forgetfulness, and what they are forced to do."

«أجرجه ابن ماجه، الطلاق، باب طلاق المكره والناسي، حديث:2045، والحاكم:2 /198، وصححه علي شرط الشيخين، ووافقه الذهبي، وسنده صحيح، وللحديث شواهد كثيرة.»©Explanation:
This and the preceding hadiths have been mentioned so that it becomes clear that, in such a situation, divorce does not take effect according to the Shari‘ah.
The meaning of the hadith is that if someone is coerced or compelled in any way—whether through threats or intimidation—to pronounce divorce, then according to the Shari‘ah, that divorce will absolutely not take effect.
