Hadith 141

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ اتَّخَذَنِي خَلِيلًا كَمَا اتَّخَذَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلًا ، فَمَنْزِلِي وَمَنْزِلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ تُجَاهَيْنِ ، وَالْعَبَّاسُ بَيْنَنَا مُؤْمِنٌ بَيْنَ خَلِيلَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah has taken me as a close friend (Khalil) as He took Ibrahim as a close friend. So my house and the house of Ibrahim will be opposite to one another on the Day of Resurrection, and 'Abbas will be in between us, a believer between two close friends.'" (Maudu')

Commentary:
Both narrations mentioned here regarding the virtues of Abbas radi Allahu anhu are not authentic; however, he is a noble Companion (sahabi) and the esteemed paternal uncle of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
This honor and distinction is itself no small matter.
