Narrated Nafi`: `Abdullah bin `Umar used to offer the Maghrib and `Isha' prayers together at Jam' (Al-Muzdalifa). But he used to pass by that mountain pass where Allah's Apostle went, and he would enter it and answer the call of nature and perform ablution, and would not offer any prayer till he had prayed at Jam.'

Hadith Commentary:
This was the perfection of Abdullah ibn Umar’s radi Allahu anhu adherence to the Sunnah, even though the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had stopped at that mountain pass out of necessity due to human needs, and it was not a pillar (rukn) of Hajj. Yet Abdullah radi Allahu anhu would also stop there, and after relieving himself or similar needs, he would perform ablution (wudu) there, just as the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had done.
