And Allah the Exalted said (in Surah An-Naml): "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city, Who has made it sacred and to Whom belongs all things. And I am commanded to be of those who submit (to Allah in Islam)." And Allah the Exalted said in Surah Al-Qasas: "Have We not established for them a secure sanctuary, to which are brought fruits of all kinds as provision from Us? But most of them do not know."
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: On the Day of the Conquest of Mecca, Allah's Apostle said, "Allah has made this town a sanctuary. Its thorny bushes should not be cut, its game should not be chased, and its fallen things should not be picked up except by one who would announce it publicly."

Hadith Commentary:
In Musnad Ahmad and other collections, it is narrated from ‘Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi‘ah that the Noble Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
«لا تزال هذه الأمة بخير ما عظموا هذه الحرمة حق تعظيمها، فإذا تركوها وضيعوها هلكوا» That is, this Ummah will always remain in goodness and well-being as long as they continue to fully honor the Ka‘bah, and when they neglect it, they will be destroyed.
It is thus understood that the Noble Ka‘bah and its surroundings, the entire land of the Haram, and indeed the whole city, are extremely honored and revered places for the Muslim Ummah.
Whatever instructions regarding their veneration and respect have been given in the Book and the Sunnah, it is extremely necessary to always keep them in view.
In fact, the reality is that the life of the Islamic nation is connected to the sanctity of the Ka‘bah.
The Qur’anic verses that Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has brought under this chapter contain the mention of many realities, especially that Allah, the Exalted, has placed such blessing in the city of Makkah that from all directions every kind of fruit, produce, and grain is drawn towards it.
Every fruit of the world is available in its markets.
Especially in this present era, the government of Saudi Arabia—may Allah preserve it—has granted such development to this sacred city, and the way its modern reconstruction has been carried out and is ongoing, is extremely worthy of gratitude for the entire Islamic nation.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Allah Ta'ala has made Makkah Mukarramah worthy of respect due to its honor and sanctity.
The rulings of Makkah and the Haram of Makkah are the same.
The boundary of the Haram of Makkah is three miles towards Madinah, seven miles towards Yemen and Iraq, and ten miles towards Jeddah.
We will discuss other rulings and issues related to this hadith under hadith: 1834, in sha Allah.
(2)
In any case, this hadith establishes the virtue of the Haram of Makkah.
The very virtue of this Haram demands that whoever intends to perform Hajj or Umrah of the House of Allah should come in humble attire and present himself in this royal court.
Allah Ta'ala has declared it a Haram through Ibrahim (alayhis salam).
