Hadith 594
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُقْرِئِ ، قَالَ : ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، سَمِعَ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ إِيَاسَ بْنَ عَبْدٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ ، يَقُولُ : لا تَبِيعُوا الْمَاءَ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْمَاءِ " ، لا أَدْرِي أَيَّ مَاءٍ هُوَ ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى : أَخْبَرَهُ أَبُو الْمِنْهَالِ .
Sayyiduna Iyas bin Abd Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that do not sell water, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbidding the selling of water. It is not known which water is meant. In one narration of Sufyan bin Uyaynah (may Allah have mercy on him), instead of "masma‘", the word "akhbarahu" is used.
