Hadith 396
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : ثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ الرَّسُولِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : أَصْبَحَ النَّاسُ صِيَامًا تَمَامَ الثَّلاثِينَ ، فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيَّانِ ، فَشَهِدَا أَنَّهُمَا أَهَلا الْهِلالَ بِالأَمْسِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلنَّاسِ : " فَأَفْطِرُوا " .
It is narrated from a companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that the people (companions) observed the thirtieth fast. Two Bedouins came and testified that they had seen the moon the previous day. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered the people, so they broke their fast.
