Hadith 1006
حَدَّثَنَا ، الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ بَحْرٍ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ، قَالا : ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُباب ، قَالَ : أنا سَيْفُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : أَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : " قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَاهِدٍ وَيَمِينٍ " ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَكْرِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَيْفِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ ، فَقَالَ : كَانَ عِنْدَنَا ثَابِتًا مِمَّنْ يَصْدُقُ وَيَحْفَظُ .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a verdict based on one witness and an oath. (For a verdict, two witnesses are required; if there are not two witnesses, then a verdict is given based on one witness and the plaintiff's oath.) Ali bin Abdullah says: I asked Yahya bin Saeed about Saif bin Sulaiman, so he said: According to us, he was reliable, among the truthful and those with good memory.
