Hadith 92

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We are more deserving of doubt than Ibrahim (peace be upon him), when he said: "My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." Allah said: "Do you not believe?" He said: "Yes, but only that my heart may be satisfied." And Allah have mercy on Lut (peace be upon him), for he used to seek refuge with a mighty support (i.e., the Generous Lord). And if I had stayed in prison as long as Yusuf (peace be upon him) did, I would have surely responded to the caller.

Brief Explanation
That is, doubt regarding Ibrahim alayhis salam is impossible and there is no room for it. And if attributing doubt to the Prophets radi Allahu anhum were permissible, then I (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would have had more right to doubt regarding Ibrahim. And you know that Ibrahim alayhis salam did not doubt; so when I did not have any doubt, nor did I have any doubt or suspicion regarding Allah’s power to give life to the dead, then Ibrahim alayhis salam is even more deserving and worthy (of not doubting)…

The meaning of coming to the severe pillar is coming to Allah Himself…

That is, if I were in the place of Yusuf alayhis salam, I would have hastened to accept coming out of prison and would not have turned my attention to seeking exoneration. Imam Muhyi al-Sunnah rahimahullah says: The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is describing the composure, seriousness, deliberation in affairs, and patience of Yusuf alayhis salam—that when the king’s messenger came to him, despite having endured a long imprisonment and being pardoned and forgiven for the act, he did not hasten to come out, but rather said to the messenger: Return to your king and ask him, “What is the case of those women who cut their hands?” The purpose was that proof and evidence would be established against them, that keeping him in prison on their account was manifest injustice.
