The purified wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with her when Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard the voice of a companion who was seeking permission to enter the house of Umm al-Mu'mineen Hafsa. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "I said, O Messenger of Allah, I think he is Hafsa's uncle by milk. O Messenger of Allah, this companion is seeking permission to enter your house (in which Hafsa lives)." Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I think this person is so-and-so, Hafsa's foster uncle." Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) also asked about one of her own foster uncles, "If so-and-so were alive, could he come to me without hijab?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, all those relationships that become unlawful due to lineage also become unlawful due to milk."
