Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: From the spoils of the Battle of Badr, a young she-camel came into my share, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also gave me a young she-camel from the khums (the fifth part of the spoils). When I intended to marry Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I made an arrangement with a man from the Banu Qaynuqa (a Jewish tribe), who was a goldsmith, that he would go with me and we would both bring idhkhir grass (from the forest). My intention was to sell that grass to the goldsmiths and use its price for the wedding feast of my marriage. While I was gathering the equipment for both she-camels—the saddles, bags, ropes, etc.—and both she-camels were sitting near the house of an Ansari companion, when I returned after preparing all the equipment, I saw that someone had cut off the humps of both my she-camels and had ripped open their bellies and taken out their livers. When I saw this condition, I involuntarily began to weep. I asked, "Who has done all this?" The people informed me that it was Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), and he is in that very house drinking wine with some of the Ansar. I left from there and went straight to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) was also sitting with you. As soon as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me, he understood that I was in great distress. Therefore, he asked, "Ali! What happened?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! I have never seen a calamity like today. Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) has wronged my two she-camels. He cut off both their humps and ripped open their bellies. He is still in that house, holding a drinking gathering with several companions." Upon hearing this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for his cloak, put it on, and started walking on foot. I and Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) followed behind you. Eventually, when he reached the house where Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) was, he asked for permission to enter, and the people inside granted him permission. They were drinking wine. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to reproach Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) for what he had done. Hamza's eyes were red and intoxicated from the wine. He looked up at the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then raised his gaze a little higher, then looked at your knees, then raised his gaze further and looked near your navel, then fixed his gaze on your face. Then he said, "You are all slaves of my father." Seeing this condition, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) realized that Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) was completely intoxicated, he turned back from there and we also left with him.
