Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (In Islam) there is no practice of Fara’ and ‘Atirah. "Fara’" was the first offspring (of a she-camel) which, in the days of ignorance, people used to slaughter for their idols, and "‘Atirah" was what they used to slaughter in the month of Rajab.

Brief Explanation
One definition of "Fara'" is present in the very text of the hadith itself: when the livestock of those people would give birth to its first offspring, they would slaughter it in the name of their idols. Some have defined it as follows: in the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), when a person would acquire one hundred camels, he would slaughter a young camel in the name of his idol; this too was called "Fara'." Ibn al-Athir has written that Imam Khattabi states: "‘Atirah’ refers to that animal which, in the Age of Ignorance, people would slaughter in the name of their idols and would pour its blood upon the head of the idol."
