Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent seventy men from Banu Sulaim (who were Qurra) to Banu Amir. When all these people reached (Bir Ma'una), my maternal uncle Haram bin Milhan (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I will go ahead (to Banu Amir). If they grant me security so that I can convey the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to them, then it is good; otherwise, you people are near me anyway." So he went to them, and they granted him security. While he was reciting the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to the people of the tribe, the people of the tribe signaled to one of their men (Amir bin Tufail), and he pierced him (Haram, may Allah be pleased with him) with a spear, which went through him. At that moment, these words came from his tongue: "Allahu Akbar! I have succeeded, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!" After that, the people of the tribe advanced towards the other companions of Haram (may Allah be pleased with him), who were seventy in number, and killed all of them. However, one person who was lame climbed up the mountain. Hammam (the narrator of the hadith) said, "I think that one person and his companion (climbed the mountain)." After that, Jibreel informed the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that your companions have met Allah, so Allah Himself is pleased with them and has made them pleased as well. After that, we used to recite (this verse along with other verses of the Qur'an): (translation) "Convey this message to our people that we have met our Lord, so our Lord is pleased with us and we are pleased with Him." After that, this verse was abrogated. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated against the tribes of Ri'l, Dhakwan, Banu Lihyan, and Banu Usayyah for forty days in the morning prayer, those who had disobeyed Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
