Hadith 408
عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أُمِّ وَلَدٍ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَجُرُّ ذَيْلِي (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: كُنْتُ امْرَأَةً لِي ذَيْلٌ طَوِيلٌ) وَكُنْتُ آتِي الْمَسْجِدَ فَأَمُرُّ بِالْمَكَانِ الْقَذِرِ وَالْمَكَانِ الطَّيِّبِ، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((يُطَهِّرُهُ مَا بَعْدَهُ))
Ibrahim bin Abdur Rahman bin Awf’s umm walad (may Allah have mercy on her) says: “I used to drag my garment,” and in another narration: “I was a woman whose garment’s lower part was long, and when I would come to the mosque, I would pass through both impure and pure places.” So I went to Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about this. She said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The latter (pure) place will purify it.”
Hadith 409
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَيْسَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَجُلَ صِدْقٍ عَنْ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنَّ لَنَا طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ مُنْتِنًا، فَكَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ إِذَا مُطِرْنَا؟ قَالَ: ((أَلَيْسَ بَعْدَهَا طَرِيقٌ هِيَ أَطْيَبُ مِنْهَا؟)) قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: بَلَى، قَالَ: ((فَهَذِهِ بِهَذِهِ)) وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: قَالَ: ((إِنَّ هَذِهِ تَذْهَبُ بِذَلِكَ))
Musa bin Abdullah, may Allah have mercy on him, who was a truthful man, narrates from a female Companion from Banu Abd Ashhal, may Allah be pleased with her, she says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! The path we take to the mosque is foul-smelling; what should we do when it rains?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there not a clean path after that?" She said: "Yes, of course." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then that path is in place of this one." In another narration, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This clean path will remove the effect (of impurity) of that (unclean path)."
