Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever’s intercession becomes a barrier to any limit set by Allah, he has opposed the command of Allah. Whoever dies in debt should remember that on the Day of Resurrection there will be no abundance of dirhams and dinars; rather, there will be exchange of good and bad deeds. Whoever knowingly argues in favor of falsehood will remain under the wrath and anger of Allah until he desists. Whoever accuses a believer of a crime that is not found in him will be detained in Radhghatul-Khabal (the pus of the people of Hell) until he withdraws from what he has said.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … If one wishes to understand the meaning and concept of backbiting (ghibah), then reflect upon the following examples:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh ibn Jabal radi Allahu anhu, who says: "They mentioned a man in the presence of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and said: 'He does not eat until he is fed, and he does not mount (his ride) until it is prepared for him.' The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: 'You have backbitten him.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah! We only said what is actually in him.' He said: 'It is sufficient for you (to be considered backbiting) that you mention about your brother that which is in him.'" (Shu'ab al-Iman: 2/304)
Reflect that the Companions mentioned a man's natural laziness and sluggishness, and the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam declared even this to be backbiting. It is thus clear that we have no right to find fault with anyone in their absence, of any kind.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik radi Allahu anhu, who says: "The Arabs used to serve one another during journeys. There was a man with Abu Bakr and Umar who used to serve them. (One day) they both woke up from sleep, and the servant had not prepared food for them. One of them said to his companion: 'This servant sleeps like your Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.' (And in another narration: 'He sleeps like the people of your house.') They woke him up and said: 'Go to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and say to him: Abu Bakr and Umar send you greetings of peace, and they are requesting some relish (salan) from you.' The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: 'Convey my greetings to them, and inform them that they have already eaten relish.' Abu Bakr and Umar became alarmed at this, and they came to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! We sent (this man) to you to request relish, and you said that we have already eaten relish. With what did we eat relish?' He said: 'With the flesh of your brother. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I can see his flesh between your teeth.' They said: 'Seek forgiveness for us.' He said: 'Rather, let him seek forgiveness for you.'" (Masawee' al-Akhlaq lil-Khara'iti: 186, Sahihah: 2608)
In this hadith, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radi Allahu anhu and Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq radi Allahu anhu, regarding their servant while he was asleep, said: "He sleeps on a journey just like he sleeps at home." Their intention was that he should have woken up earlier and prepared food for them. But the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam counted even this comment as backbiting. When he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "I see the flesh of your brother between your teeth," this was an allusion to the meaning of the following verse: {وَلَایَغْتَبْبَّعْضُکُمْبَعْضًااَیُحِبُّاَحَدُکُمْاَنْیَّأْکُلَلَحْمَأَخِیْہِمَیْتًافَکَرِھْتُمُوْہُ} (Surah al-Hujurat: 12) … "And let not any of you backbite another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would abhor it." From this hadith, it is also understood that the person who was backbitten should seek forgiveness for those who backbit him, so that their sin may be nullified.
