Hadith 9360

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever a believer is afflicted with fatigue, exhaustion, sorrow, illness, pain, or any distressing grief, Allah Almighty makes these trials an expiation for his sins.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Illness is an involuntary matter; a person becomes afflicted with it without any personal involvement, yet despite this, it becomes an expiation for his sins.
Due to illnesses and trials, there is certainly hardship, but what is comforting is that Allah Ta‘ala forgives sins because of these hardships. Therefore, one should be content with this decision of Allah Ta‘ala without any complaint or objection.
