It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a servant's sins become numerous, while he does not have enough good deeds to atone for his sins, then Allah Almighty begins to test him with sorrows, until through them He wipes away his evils.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There are three types of patience (sabr):
1. Patience in obeying Allah, the Exalted, and His Messenger. 2. Patience in refraining from disobedience to Allah, the Exalted, and His Messenger. 3. Patience in enduring the calamities and trials that descend from Allah, the Exalted.
In this sense, the source of every good deed and the avoidance of every evil is patience (sabr). If a person becomes truly patient, then fulfilling all the requirements of the Shari’ah rulings becomes easy for him.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “No servant has been given anything better and more expansive than patience (sabr).” (Hakim: 2/414, Sahihah: 448)
From all these blessed ahadith, we also learn that trials are not a sign of Allah’s displeasure; rather, these tests become a means for the elevation of ranks.
