Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Syedna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) set out for Makkah Mukarramah for Hajj, and the wife of Muhammad bin Ja'far bin Abi Talib came to him, and he spent the night with her. When morning came, he went to Syedna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and there was a trace of women's fragrance on him and a beautiful red sheet, which had been dyed with 'usfur plant. He found the people at the place of Milal, and they had not yet set out for the journey. When Syedna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him, he scolded and expressed regret and said: "Do you wear clothes dyed with 'usfur, even though the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade wearing clothes of this color?" Syedna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not forbid Muhammad bin Ja'far nor Syedna Uthman, but only forbade me.
