عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَكْوِي غُلَامًا قَالَ قُلْتُ تَكْوِيهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ هُوَ دَوَاءُ الْعَرَبِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يُنْزِلْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَنْزَلَ مَعَهُ دَوَاءً جَهِلَهُ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ وَعَلِمَهُ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ عَلِمَهُ
‘Ata bin Sa’ib narrates that I came to ‘Abd al-Rahman, and he was branding a slave. I said: Do you brand him? He said: Yes, this is the Arabs’ method of treatment. It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has not created any disease except that He has also sent down its cure. Whoever among you is ignorant of it, is ignorant of it, and whoever has come to know it, has come to know it.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Just as Allah Ta'ala, in accordance with the requirements of His wisdom and knowledge, has sent down various kinds of illnesses, so too, out of His grace upon His servants, He has also created the means for their treatment. In the present age, research into various kinds of treatments for different diseases is emerging, which are both soothing and curative.
