It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: There is no need to perform ablution except due to the sound of wind or perceiving its smell.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Imam Bayhaqi has indicated that the above-mentioned hadith is actually an abridgment of the following hadith: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((When any one of you finds a movement in his posterior during prayer, and it becomes unclear to him whether he has broken his ablution (wudu) or not, then he should not leave (the prayer for a new ablution) until he hears a sound or perceives a smell.)) … When any one of you feels some movement in his posterior during prayer and becomes doubtful whether he has lost his ablution or not, he should not go (to perform a new ablution) until he hears a sound or perceives an odor. (Sahih Muslim: 362, and the wording is from Ahmad: 9355) In any case, the meaning of the above hadiths becomes clear from this blessed hadith.
