Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Sahl Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that water was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he drank it, and on his left side were elders and on his right side was a child. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the child: “Will you permit me to give this water to these elders?” But the child said: “By Allah! I will not give preference to anyone over my share.” So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) handed the vessel of water to that child.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith it is understood that if there is something to eat or drink, or anything else, then the distribution should be started from the right side, or permission should be sought from the one on the right side. If he grants permission, then it is permissible to give it to someone else on the other side among those present. If he does not grant permission, then it is not permissible, even if the one on the right side is of a lower status or younger.
