It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she went to Sayyida Umm Talha Talhat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and saw that mature girls were praying without scarves. So she said: None of these girls should pray without a scarf. Once, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while a girl was under my care. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me his lower garment and said: Tear this lower garment and give it to this girl and the girl being raised under the care of Umm Salamah, because I think both of them have reached maturity.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The onset of menstrual blood is a sign of puberty for a woman. The summary of the signs of puberty and non-puberty is as follows: The scholars of the Ummah are in agreement that seminal emission (ihtilam) is a sign of puberty for both men and women, and menstruation (hayd) and pregnancy are signs of puberty for women. The Shafi'is are of the opinion that the presence of pubic hair will be considered as a sign of puberty or non-puberty for disbelievers, because due to their disbelief, reliance cannot be placed on their statements regarding their age, whether they have experienced seminal emission or not, or whether their girls have begun menstruating or not.
