Hadith 5513

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever sleeps while there is the smell or greasiness of meat on his hand, and then because of this he suffers any harm, then he should blame only himself.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Washing the hands after eating is recommended (mustahabb), especially before sleeping. Upon smelling the scent of grease, an insect or creature may bite, and this leftover food can spoil and become a cause of illness as well. Therefore, after eating, one should wash the hands and also clean the mouth, as is established from other ahadith. Islam emphasizes cleanliness and purity in every circumstance.
