Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The oath will be considered valid according to the understanding of the person at whose demand the oath is being taken. For example, some people take a false oath with the intention that, in their hearts, they mean the negation of something, while outwardly they are expressing affirmation. This approach of such people is invalid and contrary to the Shari‘ah, and according to Islamic teachings, they will be guilty of a major sin (kabirah). In this matter, consideration is given to the understanding of the one demanding the oath, not to the intention of the one taking the oath.
