Hadith 5099

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If Mut’im bin ‘Adi were alive and spoke to me regarding these foul-smelling captives (of Badr), I would have set them free (without ransom).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … When the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam returned to Makkah Mukarramah from Ta’if, Mut’im bin ‘Adi granted him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam protection in such a manner that he ordered his four sons to stand, armed, at the corners of the Ka‘bah. Upon witnessing this scene, the Quraysh said: “O Mut‘im! You are such a man that your protection cannot be violated.” This was a favor that this person did for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and in return for this, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam intended to accept his intercession.
