Hadith 4619

عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ نَحَرْنَا بِالْحُدَيْبِيَّةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَدَنَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: At the place of Hudaybiyyah, in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we sacrificed a camel on behalf of seven people and likewise slaughtered a cow on behalf of seven people.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith it is understood that a cow and a camel suffice on behalf of seven individuals each, but in hadith number (4684) it is mentioned that a camel was slaughtered on behalf of ten individuals along with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
