It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went towards Safa and recited this verse: {إِنَّالصَّفَاوَالْـمَـرْوَۃَمِـنْشَعَائِرِاللّٰہِ} (Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah) (Surah Al-Baqarah: 158). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We will also begin from the place which Allah Almighty mentioned first. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended Safa until the House of Allah became visible to him. There, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said "Allahu Akbar" and recited this supplication: "La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, ... wa ghalabal ahzaba wahdahu." After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made supplications there, then descended, and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the middle of the valley, he began to run, until when he crossed the valley and started to ascend Marwah, he resumed walking at a normal pace. When he reached the top of Marwah and the House of Allah became visible to him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did the same as he had done at Safa.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, who says: “When the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam finished his circumambulation (tawaf), he came to Safa and ascended it until he could see the House (Ka‘bah). Then he raised his hands and began to praise Allah and supplicate as much as Allah willed him to supplicate.” (Sahih Muslim)
From these ahadith, it is established that the one performing sa‘i should ascend Safa and stand at the place from where the Ka‘bah is visible, and after saying “Allahu Akbar,” recite this supplication: “La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu’l-mulku wa lahu’l-hamdu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir, la ilaha illallah, anjaza wa‘dahu, wa sadaqa ‘abdahu, wa hazama’l-ahzaba wahdahu.” Then he should raise his hands and supplicate. This act should be repeated three times, and at the beginning of each circuit from Safa to Marwah, the same act should be performed.
