Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a man from the Banu Uzrah tribe passed away at night and was buried during the night. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade burial at night until the funeral prayer had been performed, except if people are compelled (to bury at night).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Jabir radi Allahu anhu says: The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned a Companion who had passed away; he was given a worn-out shroud and buried at night. Then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam reproached this, saying that a person should not be buried at night until his funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) has been performed, unless someone is compelled to do so. (Sahih Muslim)
