Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In light of the following hadith, the above-mentioned narration of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu can be understood: Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha says: The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was shrouded in three white cotton Yemeni garments (sahuli), and there was neither a shirt nor a turban among them. As for the issue of people’s statement that he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was shrouded in a hullah (striped garment), this is the result of a misconception, because although a hullah was indeed purchased for shrouding him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, it was then set aside, and he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was shrouded in three white cotton Yemeni garments (sahuli).
