Hadith 165

عَنْ سَعْدٍ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: ((إِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ بَدَأَ غَرِيبًا وَسَيَعُودُ كَمَا بَدَأَ، فَطُوبَى يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْغُرَبَاءِ إِذَا فَسَدَ الزَّمَانُ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ بِيَدِهِ لَيُؤْرِزَنَّ الْإِيمَانُ بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْمَسْجِدَيْنِ كَمَا تُؤْرِزُ الْحَيَّةُ فِي جُحْرِهَا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Indeed, Islam began as something strange, and soon it will return to being strange as it was in the beginning. So glad tidings to the strangers of that time, when corruption will have spread in the rest of the era. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Abu al-Qasim! Faith will seek refuge towards these two mosques just as a snake seeks refuge in its hole.”
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Although at present Islam is quite renowned throughout the world and the number of its adherents is also very large, nevertheless, there is a sense of estrangement from practical and true Islam. The essence of the religion and its requirements are becoming unfamiliar to most Muslims. The prophecy mentioned in this blessed hadith will manifest practically in the last era; it is possible that this will occur when the time of the emergence of Dajjal draws near, or when many tribulations appear and disbelievers and oppressors gain dominance over Muslim lands. At that time, the people of faith will reach the two sacred sanctuaries (Haramayn Sharifayn) to safeguard their faith.
