Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Since Sayyiduna Mu'adh ibn Jabal radi Allahu anhu was the most knowledgeable regarding what is lawful and unlawful, as is evident from the next hadith, and the true hallmark of the people of knowledge is also the recognition of what is lawful and unlawful, therefore Sayyiduna Mu'adh radi Allahu anhu will be walking at the forefront of the people of knowledge on the Day of Resurrection. Sayyiduna Mu'adh ibn Jabal al-Khazraji al-Ansari radi Allahu anhu was a Companion who entered the fold of Islam at the age of eighteen, and had the honor of participating in the Second Pledge of Aqabah along with seventy Ansar. He participated in the battles of Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, and other expeditions. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam established brotherhood between him and Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud radi Allahu anhu, and the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also sent him as an ambassador of Islam to Yemen. Mu'adh radi Allahu anhu was among those fortunate people who had compiled the Noble Qur'an during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He used to issue legal verdicts (fatwas) even during the life of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He passed away in the year 18 Hijri in the plague of 'Amwas at the age of 33. Abu Nu'aym said about him: He was the Imam of the jurists and the dignity of the scholars; he was present at Aqabah, the Battle of Badr, and other significant events; in terms of forbearance, modesty, and generosity, he was the best among the Ansar; he was very handsome and forgiving; whatever was asked of him, he would give.
