عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُرَى عَضَلَةُ سَاقِهِ مِنْ تَحْتِ إِزَارِهِ إِذَا اتَّزَرَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, would wrap himself in a sheet, the thick flesh of his shin would be visible from beneath the sheet.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The legal ruling (shar‘i hukm) regarding the izar (lower garment) and shalwar (trousers) is that they should be at least above the ankles, and it is preferable that the waist-wrapper (tehband) and the like be kept up to the middle of the shin.
