It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a son was born to one of the Ansari men among us, and he intended to name him Muhammad. In one narration, that Ansari says: I carried him on my shoulders and brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). In Sulaiman’s narration, it is stated: A child was born to him, so he intended to name him Muhammad, whereupon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Name him with my name, but do not use my kunyah (patronymic), for I have been made the Qasim (distributor), I distribute (wealth and religion) among you.” In Husayn’s narration, it is stated: “I have been sent as the Qasim, I distribute among you.”
