It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not initiate the greeting of peace to the People of the Book, and force them to the narrowest part of the road."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Usman Muneeb
Benefits and Issues:
Whether a disbeliever resides in a Muslim country or in a non-Muslim country, it is impermissible to initiate the greeting of salam to him, because he is not deserving of honor and mercy. Similarly, if a disbeliever is encountered on the road, it is not correct to give him way so that he may pass easily; rather, one should walk in a manner that occupies more space, so that he is compelled towards the narrower part of the path.
